Another post, “Road accessibility of Polish airports”, shows road accessibility to the airports within Polish borders. This analysis will present road accessibility to the airports located in the neighbouring EU countries.

The first map shows time accessibility of up to 2 hours to the airports in the Czech Republic, Germany, Lithuania and Slovakia. It is evident that the largest area with good accessibility belongs to the airports in Ostrava and Poprad. However, their offer is not extensive when compared to Kraków Airport or Katowice Airport. Significantly greater competition for the airports in Poznań and Szczecin is constituted by the airports (in the future one main airport) in Berlin.

The other map shows road time accessibility to Polish airports. With A1 motorway, Katowice Airport can be reached within 90 minutes from Ostrava, and travelling to Poznań and Szczecin from Berlin takes about 2 hours. Particularly the airport in the south of Poland can fight (and so they do) for the passengers from the countries beyond Poland’s southern borders.
The maps have been prepared based on the OpenStreetMap data.
